THE NEW WIFI SHUNT
THANKS to the ESP32-C3 chip, it is not only interesting for the VAN PI system. You can also easily integrate it into other systems via WIFI or BLE .
Everything you need to know.
Is the old shunt supported with the VAN PI Core?
No.
The old shunt was a passive shunt. This means that the evaluation was carried out entirely on the relay board.
This brought with it some disadvantages which we have fixed with the update.
The RJ11 port also had to give way to the LIN bus in order to support, for example, the INET BOX emulation for the Truma heaters.
Does the shunt also work without the VAN PI system?
Yes!
The shunt also runs without the VAN PI system.
You can use the app from the stores. *Available from delivery in April
If you want to use the shunt with another project, check out Github.
How high is the power consumption.
The shunt consumes around 30mA and can therefore monitor your battery for a long period of time without any problems. The power consumption is higher than comparable devices. However, these do not offer WiFi and do not offer an easy connection to other systems. We will try to optimize the power consumption on the software side in a later update.
Integration into VAN PI
You can search for the shunt in the web interface and configure it there.
The integration is therefore child's play.
Functionality
The shunt is currently limited to reading the currents and recording the SOC.
However, we expect more features to be available soon thanks to the open code.
