Autoterm Air 2D diesel parking heater

Autoterm auxiliary heaters, formerly known as Planar 2D, have become an indispensable companion in mobile homes, caravans and expedition vehicles. They are particularly valued for their reliability and safety in tough, continuous use. The low fuel consumption, high performance and flexible controllability in various operating modes make them the ideal choice for travel on land and water.

The Autoterm auxiliary heater is marked with an E, which means that no permits or additional approvals are required for installation. It is suitable for all types of vehicles. The Autoterm Air 2D is available for vehicles with an on-board voltage of 12 volts as well as for vehicles with 24 volts. The touring car equipped with an Autoterm Air auxiliary heater performs perfectly in low temperatures.

In the past, a reduced oxygen supply led to soot formation in the combustion chamber. But today the auxiliary heater is equipped with an altitude kit that regulates combustion at different altitudes. The heater automatically adjusts the fuel supply to the ambient air pressure, which has been proven during successful tests on the Pitztal Glacier in Austria, at an altitude of 3440 m. The Air 2D altitude kit has proven itself to be excellent even in these extreme conditions. So you can be sure that the auxiliary heater will not let you down, even in the most difficult conditions.

However, please note

Despite the altitude kit, operating a diesel parking heater (just like a diesel engine in a car) is a technical compromise. In the long term, you have to make sure that the combustion chamber gets really hot so that it can burn freely. Otherwise, combustion cannot be avoided even with an altitude kit.

Autoterm Air 2D or 4D for double the performance?

The Autoterm Air 2D with a heating output of 2 kW could be a suitable option. The Autoterm Air is also available in a 4D version with a heating output of 4 kW in a 12V or 24V version. Which type of parking heater is right for you depends on your own travel habits, destinations and the insulation of the vehicle. The 4 kW parking heater has the ability to quickly turn smaller motorhomes into a sauna even on the lowest setting, requiring you to open the window to regulate the temperature. Not only can this be unnecessary, but it can also lead to the heating system becoming sooty more quickly. If in doubt, it is advisable to choose a smaller heater and run it on a higher setting, rather than always running the larger heater on a lower setting. This way you can better adapt the heating output to your individual needs and avoid potential problems with excessive heat or sooting.
